Overview:
Liquid UI Android enables the SAP user to generate print using a Bluetooth Printer. In order to generate a successful print user needs to do the following:
A. Configuring Output Device within the SAP System.
B. Pairing Bluetooth Printer with the Android device.
C. Setting the output device for a user.
A. Configuring Output Device within the SAP System:
1. Navigate to the transaction SPAD.
2. On the Initial Screen, name an output device for creation under the input field Output Devices and click "Display" button.
3. On the next screen, click on the button "Change" from the toolbar.
4. On the next screen, click on the button "Create" from the toolbar.
5. You will be navigated to the screen "Spool Administration: Create Output Device" then fill the below required information under following TAB's.
Device Attributes:
Device Type: select the appropriate line driver from the list that best suits your Bluetooth printer.
Device Class: select the option "Standard Printer".
Access Method:
Host Spool Access Method: Need to set it to "F: Printing on Front End Computer".
Host Printer: __default.
Output Attributes:
SAP cover page language: Set it as EN.
Process requests sequentially: Place a check.
Copy Counter: Select the option "Pass Copy Counter to Host Spool System".
Print mode: Select the option "DEFAULT: Printer default setting"
Paper tray: Select the option "Default tray".
Also provide a short name for the Output device and click on "Save" button.
B. Pairing Bluetooth Printer with the Android device:
1. Turn on the Bluetooth printer and switch on the Bluetooth on your android device.
2. Pair your device with the Bluetooth printer by navigating to the Bluetooth section under Settings on your device.
3. Start the Liquid UI Android and navigate to settings - symbolically three horizontal lines to the top left corner on the "SERVER CONNECTIONS" screen.
4. Select "App Settings" and choose "Default Printer".
5. You will see the Bluetooth printer name in the list. Tap on it to select.
6. A tick mark will be placed at the front of the name indicating selection.
7. You can also Tap and hold on the name to utilize other options i.e., to clear printer selection and also to update Bluetooth Printer's device credentials within the app.
Once pairing is done you can navigate to any native SAP transaction on your SAP system to generate a Bluetooth print using the print command i.e., with the help of print button.
Advisory Notes:
1. Make sure that your Bluetooth printer is only paired to one Android device at a time as few of the printers cannot remember or pair multiple devices at a time.
2. It is also better to maintain only the Bluetooth printer as paired or default in the list of paired devices section of Bluetooth settings and in the list of default printer selection within the App Settings of the Liquid UI Android.
Interesting Facts:
1. You need not make default printer selection each time you start the application.
2. Print generation can be done even at a distance of atleast 10 meters. If there is a loss of Bluetooth connectivity between the Application and the printer while generating the print, the app pops-up a dialogue box stating "loss of connectivity" and once you select OK it re-establishes connection and generates the print.
C. Setting the output device for a user:
1. Navigate to the transaction SU01.
2. On the Initial Screen, enter the user and click on "change" button from the tool bar.
3. Now navigate to the tab "Defaults" and enter the Output Device name within the input field "Output Device" or use f4 help to make the selection.
4. Click on "Save" button.
5. The information message will be appear at the bottom of the screen confirming the changes made.
Note: You need to have administrative privileges for your "SAP user logon" to make such changes.
