4.1.3.2 Editing PDF Template for SAP - Hidden Fields

Adding Hidden Fields

Once you have associated the Web Server's URL with the PDF form's Submit button, you must add four hidden fields to the PDF form. These fields will hold the user logon credentials for SAP so that users do not have to manually input them every time.

The four fields in questions are as follows:

Client

This is an optional field. It contains the SAP client ID.

User

This is a required field. It holds the SAP user name.

Password

This is a required field. It holds the SAP password.

Language

This is an optional field. It contains the two-digit SAP language code.

To add the hidden fields to the PDF Form, please do the following.

  1. Save the changes in the PDF form if you have not already done so.
  2. In LiveCycle Designer, go to the Window > Object Library menu option as shown below:
  3. The Object Library will open to the right of the form in LiveCycle.
  4. From the Object Library, select the TextField option as shown below and drag it onto the screen. Repeat this three more times so that you have created a total of four hidden fields.
  5. Click on the new field and a sidebar called 'Object' will display. In the Field tab, choose 'Invisible' from the Presence drop-down menu as shown below. This makes the field a hidden field. Do not choose 'Hidden' - this will exclude the field from the form and the data transfer will not work.
  6. Click on each field and in the Name tab; enter the field names listed below as shown in the example.

The four field names are as follows:

    z_client

This field will contain the SAP client information.

    z_user

This field will contain your SAP username.

    z_passwd

This field will contain your SAP password.

    z_language

This field will contain the SAP language.

  7. form should now appear as shown below, with the four hidden fields.
Note: The four hidden fields can be placed anywhere in the document - they simply must be present.
  8. Save the PDF form and close Adobe LiveCycle Designer. Now go to the following section to edit the Web Server.
